Personal Liberties & Freedom

The answer to America’s political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom that marks this country above all others.

I believe every individual is naturally entitled to do as he or she pleases, so far as it in no way interferes with any other persons rights.

I welcome freedom and the diversity that comes along with it. I want everyone to live, love, play and work their own way. Free from the coercion of Government.

I recognize individual self-ownership and the right to make personal choices. My support of an individual’s right to make choices does not mean that I necessarily approve or disapprove of those choices. With rights come responsibilities. Individuals should be free to make choices for themselves and to accept responsibility for the consequences of the choices they make. Individual responsibility goes hand in hand with liberty.

I believe government exists only to protect the rights of every individual from force and fraud, not to bully Americans to behave or risk imprisonment.  The Founding Fathers viewed the criminal sanction as a last resort, reserved for serious offenses, clearly defined, so ordinary citizens would know whether they were violating the law.

“When words lose their meaning, people lose their liberty.”Confucius

The US Constitution guarantees us the right to liberty, but what does the word “liberty” mean to you? To me, liberty is the freedom of choice. The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the choice to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property.

I will work to restore your freedom and repeal the Patriot Act and NDAA.  I will fight to protect your freedoms guaranteed by the 4th amendment. I will ensure the government’s only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud. As your Senator, I will fight to repeal of all unnecessary laws and services not required under the U.S. Constitution. Federal and state laws should be limited to the protection of our life, liberty, and property.

When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”- Thomas Jefferson
