10th Amendment

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”10th Amendment

As your Senator, I will support the protections provided by the 10th Amendment. I will fully support any legislation that checks federal power. The States and people should retain their sovereignty over their own personal choices. I will fight against the unconstitutional use of the federal government to encroach in our personal lives.

According to the 10th Amendment, the government of the United States has the power to regulate only matters delegated to it by the Constitution. Other powers are reserved to the States or to the people. The Commerce Clause is one of the Article 1 Section 8 powers specifically delegated to Congress and thus its interpretation is very important in determining the scope of federal legislative power.

Misuse of the Commerce Clause has been one of the favorite methods used by those who want to side step the Constitution’s limits on government power. Unfortunately, there will always be people who try to increase their power over the lives of others. Many of those we elect to represent us in Washington fit this description.

As you Senator, I will support states rights and fight against corruption and misuse of the Commerce Clause. I will work to repeal all laws that are imposed on the states and the people unconstitutionally by the federal government.
